Running For: Council
Campaign Statement
As a current Council Member, I am committed to making sure the CUAA plays an active and vocal role in restoring free tuition at Cooper Union, as efficiently and carefully as possible. I consider this a matter of great urgency, and I believe it should be our highest priority as alumni. I am inspired by the “arc of return” outlined in the Free Education Committee’s July 2016 statement, and if elected to another term as Council Member, I will be guided by these words:
DECLARE: a deep commitment to reestablishing the full-tuition scholarships,
DEMONSTRATE: commitment to efficiency by reducing non-essential expenses,
DEMAND: that all stakeholders step up and commit to do the same,
DRIVE: by presenting unified, committed and effective leadership at The Cooper Union,
DEFEND: the essence of the school: the quality, culture, and nature of its core of teaching.
Biography
Carol is a graphic designer with over 30 years of experience creating and building brands for global clients in a wide range of industries. Currently an independent consultant, she has worked for leading branding firms including Landor Associates, Interbrand and FutureBrand NY. Her client list includes IBM, Bank of America, Underwriters Laboratories, Johnson & Johnson and GM, as well as non-profit institutions such as Tibet House NY, the Northern New Jersey Sanctuary Coalition, and CECP (the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy).
Carol has been actively engaged in the efforts to preserve the school’s full scholarship model since October 2011. She is currently Chair of the CUAA Annual Fund Committee and a member of the Augustus St. Gaudens Award Committee. She is finishing a three-year term as a Council Member.
Avid collectors of tribal art and fine art for many years, Carol and her husband Bill Wolf (A’84) are currently building a collection of historical Peter Cooper memorabilia and ephemera. Carol also oversees The Cottage Place Gallery in Ridgewood, NJ.
