Biography

I am a ChE from the Class of 83 and earned my Masters in 1986. I like to think that I earned a record number of credits (204) during my long Cooper career, thanks to also taking  classes at NYU!
Anyway, I was active in intramural sports at Cooper, mediocre at most, but I did win one school pool tournament and was on the varsity bowling team for four years – did I proudly wear my Cooper Union varsity bowling jacket around town! Thanks to the Cooper ski trips, I developed an eventual love of snowboarding, where you can find me most winter weekends, and into the early spring.

I have been an employee with the NYC Dept of Environmental Protection for over 36 years, first as a Chemist, then a Project Manager, then an Inspector during the on-site manufacture of potable waterworks, then involved with corrosion control/cathodic protection, and currently working on the wastewater side.

I am currently into my fifth year as the 2nd Vice President of Local 375, the union representing municipal engineers, architects, and other technical professionals. I am widely considered one of the more knowledgeable persons regarding Civil Service.

Finally, I am a Professional Engineer and a member of MENY – the Municipal Engineers of the City of New York.
