Campaign Statement

Biography

Em Adamo is an artist from Orange County, NY, working and living in Queens, NY. She
graduated from the Cooper Union School of Art in 2017.Em spent years heavily involved with the Free Cooper movement and participated in collaborative student actions from her first semester through to her last. She was a former tennis player excommunicated from the Athletics Department, a Resident Assistant in student housing for three years, a prominent member of Art Student Council for three-and-a-half years, was awarded the Service to the School Award, and managed the production of her class’s yearbook, while maintaining her devotion to her art practice.

Today, Em remains devoted to the practice of art through life, producing drawings,
installations, performances, a newspaper, and a small alternative art market. Em wishes to only be considered an artist under the conditions that everyone may be considered an artist. In the fall, she plans to attend Social Practice CUNY at The Queens Museum for her MFA. Em works as a painter at Jenny Holzer’s studio and is the head assistant to the New York Department of Sanitation artist in residence, Mierle Laderman Ukeles.

She loves her cat, Baby.
