Campaign Statement

Kristopher Steele is a 2013 graduate of The Cooper Union and is deeply grateful to be nominated to the CUAA as a Council member. Recognizing the abundance of academic and professional opportunities provided by the institution, I am both humbled and excited to serve students and alumni by playing a role in the preservation of this legacy.

Biography

Kristopher Steele is a real estate development and investment professional currently acting as the Director of Development Services at Engel & Völkers. In this position, he is an advisor in the planning, structuring, and delivery of global real estate and infrastructure projects.

He holds a Master of City Planning and Master of Science in Real Estate Development (with a concentration in Finance) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he was a Research Associate in the school’s Sustainable Urbanization Lab. While there, he conducted exploratory analysis in the fields of urban and environmental economics, transportation, health, and sustainable real estate development.

Prior to MIT, Kristopher was a Project Manager and Architect at Stantec, a globally renowned architecture and engineering firm, where he managed large-scale real estate and infrastructure development projects. Through his experience at Stantec, Kristopher combined his backgrounds in design, planning, and real estate to collaborate in the creation of mixed-use development and master plans for a range of large, complex projects, including One Vanderbilt Avenue Grand Central-42nd Street Redevelopment, The Hayworth at 1289 Lexington, and Long Island Railroad expansion and modernization.

Kristopher also holds a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) and Minor in Art History from the Cooper Union on Advancement of Science and Art. He is a member of the American Planning Association, American Institute of Architects, and Urban Land Institute.
