Campaign Statement

I am very grateful for the opportunity to run for Treasurer and I am confident that I can apply my more than 30 years of business experience in engineering, operations, sales and finance to give back to The Cooper Union some portion of what it has provided me. I owe my career and family to The Cooper Union having married a Cooper Union graduate, Lynne Lurie Verderese (BSE ’82). Peter Cooper had a strong belief that anyone who desired an education should be afforded the opportunity to obtain one, and as my family did not have the resources for me to attend other Colleges, my four-year scholarship provided an education that was second to none. This is something that I will never forgot and I will do what I can to support the mission of returning The Cooper Union to a full-scholarship education.

Biography

After graduating in 1984 I was a member of the Young Alumni Committee for 10 years and served as Chairman of the Phone-A-Thon and participated in multiple events throughout my tenure. I actively participated in many Cooper Athletic Association events and was honored in 2013 for my years of service to the Athletic Association. I have also served as a Member of my towns Little League Board and was CIO and Treasurer of that organization.

My career has allowed me to work in Hardware Development & Testing, Systems Engineering, Operations, Project/Program Management and Sales most notably at Loral Electronics, AT&T Bell Labs, and CompuCom Systems. I have been responsible for the P&L of multi-million dollar programs and maintained fiscal responsibility throughout my career. I am currently on a Leave of Absence from AASKI Technology, caring for my Father. AASKI provides professional services for commercial and Federal clients where my role is a Senior Program Manager. I am responsible for development and expansion of new business, due diligence and transition for company acquisitions.

My wife and I also have our own Real Estate Management company where I manage our P&L using QuickBooks. I have experience in both QuickBooks Desktop and Online having completed certification courses and I have also received a Certification in Non-Profit Management which I believe would serve this position well.
