Campaign Statement
Throughout his undergraduate experience, Chris made an effort to broadly involve himself in Cooper. Amongst the chemical engineers, he helped establish Omega Chi Epsilon, the Chemical Engineering Honor Society, to enhance professional opportunities for chemical engineers at Cooper. He complemented this academic focus with leadership in social organizations on campus, like the South Asian Society and the Martial Arts Club. Chris’ passion for Cooper inspired him to become a Resident Assistant; whereby, he planned campus-wide events to foster comradery and encouraged the next generation of students to engage in Cooper’s active community. Similarly, he challenged his peers in the Class of 2016 to raise nearly $19,500 for the Cooper Union Annual Fund as a member of the Senior Council. Chris found these experiences to be extremely rewarding and continues to stay involved with Cooper as a Mentor in the Engineering Alumni Student Mentor Program. He values this sustained connection to Cooper and would love to continue giving back as a member of CUAA’s Alumni Council.
Biography
Chris graduated from Cooper Union in 2016 with a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering and a Minor in Biomedical Engineering. Upon completion of his degree, Chris earned a Postbaccalaureate Intramural Research Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. His research utilized novel tissue engineering strategies to differentiate pluripotent stem cells into neural retina organoids for drug-screening applications. Recently, Chris started his PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and he is excited to focus his thesis on developing tissue engineering solutions to pressing health concerns. In his spare time, Chris is a martial artist who studies Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
