Campaign Statement

Cooper Union changed my life. I believe its very soul is being crushed when it is no longer “open and free for all”. I believe it is our duty as alumni to do everything possible to restore it to being completely free, at the earliest possible.  I believe that the Cooper Union Alumni Association is the true democratic representative voice of the alumni (who were asked by our beloved Peter Cooper to rally around and protect the institution in its hour of need). As such, I will do what I can to ensure it is not silenced or sidelined, and work to strengthen it.

 

Bio

Bhaskar Krishnamachari, graduated from The Cooper Union with a B.E. in Electrical engineering in 1998, and went on to do a Ph.D. at Cornell University. Since 2002 he has been a faculty member (currently a tenured Associate Professor) at the University of Southern California. Besides teaching courses in Electrical engineering at the undergraduate and graduate levels, he is Director of the Autonomous Networks Research Group, which researches and develops algorithms and protocols for next generation wireless networks. He has co-authored more than 200 papers, many of which have been cited, and is the author os a book “Networking Wireless Sensors” published by Cambridge University Press in 2005. He is the recipient of an NSF CAREER Award, the ASEE Terman Award, the Eta Kappa Nu Outstanding Young Electrical and Computer engineer Award, and in 2011 was included in the TR-35, Technology Review Magazine’s listing of top 35 innovators under the age of 35.
