Michelle Lederer AR’92

Running for: Nominating Committee

Campaign Statement

In 2019 I served on the John Q. Hejduk Award Committee.  In 2020 I was elected to the Cooper Union Alumni Council.  In 2022 it would be my privilege to serve on the nominating committee.  John Hejduk believed in the ‘Social Contract’ and I can fulfill my end of the social contract by giving back to this unique institution.

Biography

After graduating from Cooper Union I spent a year in France, learning the French language, absorbing French culture and conducting a self-directed study of French architecture.  I went on to get my master’s degree in architecture from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard.  Upon my return to New York, I immersed myself in the world of professional practice where I have worked for some of New York’s most influential architecture firms including Skidmore Owings & Merrill, Beyer Blinder Belle, Gruzen Samton and Grimshaw Architects.  I have worked on high profile projects such as the new Terminal 1 at Newark Airport and most recently, a new state of the art research and testing laboratory in New York City, planned to be built on the Harlem Hospital campus.  I am currently a CUAA Council member.
