CUAA Council News Newest Alumni Trustee Seated

Congratulations to Elizabeth Graziolo AR’95, Alumni Trustee!

Elizabeth was elected to the Alumni Trustee position during the 2019 CUAA Election (held in May) and was seated on the Cooper Union B.O.T. during the December 2019 board meeting. Elizabeth graduated from Cooper in 1995. She and fellow alums Anik Pearson and Michael Samuelian were the alumni who spearheaded fundraising for the Sue Ferguson Gussow scholarship campaign in 2018. She is a partner at Peter Pennoyer Architects (PPC). Her recent projects include 151 East 78th Street, an award-winning 16-story condominium building on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, an award-winning new house in an historic district in New England, and a residential development in Dalian, China, for which she led the site master planning and the design and development of thirty-nine townhouses. December CUAA Council Meeting Review

CU President Laura Sparks and CU B.O.T. Chair Rachel Warren were our guest speakers. Laura Sparks shared some of the achievements made during 2019. Rachel Warren gave an overview of how the Board of Trustees functions including a summary of the board’s committees. In addition to Council business, Barry Drogin EE’83 of the Cooper Union History Project gave a talk on CUAA’s financial and legal history, including the 2015 decision to pursue 501(c)(3) status from the IRS.


CUAA Nominations Deadline EXTENDED to January 1, 2020

Nominations are being accepted for positions on the spring 2020 ballot. This includes VP Alumni Activities, VP Faculty Student Liaison, Alumni Trustee, Secretary, Treasurer, Council Members, and members of the 2021 Nominating Committee.

Giving Tuesday Update – December 3, 2019

Nearly 200 donors contributed more than $600,000. This is a significant increase over last year’s total of $251,039. Thanks to the generosity of so many of you, Giving Tuesday surpassed our $400,000 goal!

Harvest Feast

Cooper Union Students had their annual Thanksgiving celebration on November 25, 2019. CUAA provided and served the pie. Kelly Occhiuzzo Zack A’90, Mark A. Vasquez ME’88, and Maureen Termecz A’88 helped with this event. See Photos

The Annual Holiday party was held on December 10th with more than 100 alumni, staff, and students attending.
