Simon Lok, EE’97

Simon Lok, Electrical Engineering 1997, is founder and chief scientist of Lok Technology Inc., a pioneer in secure, integrated network infrastructure appliances.

Dr. Lok has a Ph.D., M.Phil. and M.S. in Computer Science from Columbia University and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from Cooper Union. He started his career in information technology at the age of 14 as a consultant to NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies.

He is a frequent speaker at conferences such as the International World Wide Web Conference and the Intelligent User Interfaces Conference, among many others. His lab’s user interaction research appeared as the cover story in Popular Science and Scientific American magazines in 2005. Dr. Lok has numerous patents pending for his research in passive microwave logic, thin-client infrastructures and trusted computing.

Dr. Simon Lok received the 2006 Urban Visionary Award and was inducted into The Cooper Union Hall of Fame in 2009.
